Room 11 – The Mediterranean diet
In a room reserved for the projection of slides illustrating the diet of the populations living in the coastal areas of the Mediterranean, discovered through the use of modern science, during the 1950’s but with a thousand years traditions.

The alimentary or nutritive pyramid represents the traditional Mediterranean diet in a schematic way. The basic aliments of the pyramid are those which are fundamental in our diet and for which our daily intake needs; as we go up the pyramid we find foods which contain a higher quantity energetical, to be consumed with major attention until we arrive at the peak of the pyramid where we find the fats and sweet foods for whose consumption should be limitated, there doesn’t exist “good” or “bad” foods but only the quantity consumed can really represent “good” or “bad”. The pyramid indicates clearly the variety and quantity considered to be “healthy”.
