Room 18 – The Carli collection
The collection is the fruit of endeavors and researches over many years, and which has given birth to the present Museum of the Olive. At the start it was dedicated to lamps and cruets, subsequently enlarged to include all the utensils, which were connected to the use of olive oil and its history. Lamps and cruets create a panorama both suggestive and fascinating from the first century B.C. up until today and includes many pieces originating from a vast number of countries.

The lamps and cruets from the collection have been divided into: the ancient world, the orient, three centuries of silverware, and everyday life. Each one of these groups has been composed to recreate the atmosphere and way of life of the time: the practical Roman lamps, the glass vase for containing perfumes, oriental lamps and above all, numerous cruets representing the sumptuous tables of France, England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Italy.

Cruets
Every one of the pieces displayed gives us a glimpse of the different tastes and decorations used in the various epoques and countries. We can recognize the sumptuous French style used at the beginning of the 1800-century. The scene of a 17th century banquet reveals to the visitor the world into which the cruet was created, a precious ornamental object aristocratically displayed at the court of France before reaching the rest of Europe.
