Outside the museum
In the garden of the olive museum, between secular olive trees and two great 1000 year old trees, ancient mills can be seen together with presses and jars coming from various countries and giving an impressive panorama of the various systems of oil extraction and conservation within the Mediterranean area.

Spanish mill dated 1600 century.
A giant lever press and a stone wheel worked by a surprising, horizontal turbine underneath. This is the largest wooden press to be found in the museum. It was originally placed in a mill especially built to house it.

Ligurian mill dated 1800 century.
This is comprised of a stone bath and a wheel drawn by an animal and of a wooden press with a stone base. This kind of traditional mill became famous during the 1700 golden era in the production of olive oil from Liguria. The olives were pressed in these mill built from local stone and wood.

Spanish mill with comical wheels dated 1800 century.
Some antique machines inspire this type of plant not well known and in which the olives are channelled down to the centre of the three granite cones which, rotating, break down the olives. The cones then push the pulp towards the eternal borders where it is then collected and pressed to extract the oil.

The collection of jars and the ancient olive trees.
Outside you can find an interesting collection of jars from all around the Mediterranean area and two ancient trees that transplanted they immediately began to bud again. A living testimony to the immortality of the olive tree.
